The Porch is run by This is 37, LLC in Tennessee. This page explains what The Porch keeps about you, why, and how to remove it. The short version: it keeps what you give it so the board and your profile work, it never sells your information, and there are no ads or tracking.
What you give The Porch
- Your account: email address, name, and a password if you choose one instead of email links.
- Your profile, all optional: company, headline, bio, what you offer, what you are looking for, neighborhood, website, Instagram handle, phone number, tags and a photo. You choose whether your email and phone show on your profile, and whether you appear in the directory at all.
- What you post: events, posts, photos, comments, messages to other members, RSVPs, likes, connections and vouches.
- Safety records: reports you file, members you block, and the date you agreed to the terms.
What The Porch records on its own
- Sign-in protection: your IP address and email are logged for each sign-in attempt so nobody can flood the sign-in page, and those records are cleared out after about an hour.
- Notifications: if you allow notifications in the app, a device token so The Porch can tell you about replies, mentions, messages and new events in your groups.
- Referrals: if you joined through someone's invite link, who invited you.
There is no advertising, no analytics tracker, and no tracking across other apps or websites.
Who helps run The Porch
These services process data only to run The Porch:
- Supabase stores the database, sign-ins and photos.
- Vercel hosts the website.
- Resend sends sign-in links and notification emails.
- OpenAI reads the text off an event flyer when you choose to snap one, to fill in the event for you.
- Apple and Google deliver push notifications to your phone.
- Stripe would handle payment details if paid extras are ever offered. The Porch is free today and collects no payment information.
Who can see what
Other signed-in members can see your profile if you are listed, and what you post. Your email and phone show only if you turn that on. Messages are visible only to you and the person you are talking with. The person who runs The Porch can see reports and can remove content that breaks the rules.
Deleting your account
Open Account in the app or on the website and choose Delete my account. Your profile and everything you posted are deleted right away, including your photos. Database backups that still hold a copy are replaced on their normal cycle. You can also ask from the support page.
Children
The Porch is for adults 18 and over and does not knowingly collect data from children.
